Choosing your Synthesis
For the inexperienced crafters, it is important to understand what to choose to craft. First of all it is important to understand that the number in parentheses is the level at which you will no longer receive skill ups by crafting that item. Now in general you should look for items that are 4-9 levels above your current level, however that is up to you and your personal tastes.
Power Crafting (I did 1-60 in 3-4 days, if you have incredible money it’s a breeze)
Bone Hairpin (4) ~ Wind Crystal > Bone Chip
Bone Arrowheads (9) ~ Wind Crystal > Bone Chip x2
Bone Ring (17) ~ Wind Crystal > Bone Chip, Sheep Tooth
Beetle Ring (25) ~ Wind Crystal > Beetle Jaw
Beetle Ar. heads (33) ~ Wind Crystal > Bone Chip, Beetle Jaw
Fang Ar. heads (38) *** ~ Wind Crystal > Bone Chip, Black Tiger Fang
Carapace Mask (45) ~ Earth Crystal > Crab Shell, Dhalmel Leather
Scorpion Ar. heads (53) ~ Wind Crystal > Bone Chip, Scorpion Claw
Scorpion Ring (60) ~ Wind Crystal > Scorpion Shell
Now Begins Hell…
Scorpion Mask (64) ~ Earth Crystal > Scorpion Shell, Ram Leather
Bone Patas (68) ~ Fire Crystal > Carbon Fiber, Giant Femur x2, Crab Shell
Coral Visor (77) ~ Earth Crystal > Sheep Leather, Coral Fragment x2
Tiger Fangs (79) ~ Fire Crystal > Carbon Fiber, Scorpion Shell, Blk. Tiger Fang x2
Eremite Rings (82) ~ Earth Crystal > Sheep Tooth, Hermit’s Ring
Dragon Masks (87) ~ Wind Crystal > Sheep Leather, Wyvern Scales x2
Carapace Gauntlets (92) ~ Earth Crystal > H.Q. Crab Shell x2, Leather Gloves x2
***There are two modes of thought around level 38, I prefer Fang Arrowheads however the alternative is Horn Rings. I cannot strongly advise staying away form those for the sole being that Ram Horns are a huge money sucker on the AH and they don’t stack, so personally I preferred Fang Arrowheads, but so you know (as always) there is an alternative.
Costs while crafting the “Fast Way”
There are 2 ways to craft, the “Fast Way” and the “Slow Way”. To craft the fast way, you NPC everything so you can receive as much money as soon as possible, thus allowing you can continue to craft. However, this suffers a terrible money loss, thus be introduced the slow way. To craft the slow way you attempt to sell everything you craft on the auction house and either stop crafting till it sells or send the excess to about a million mules. As you can tell from my sarcasm, at low levels, I’m not a fan of the slow way but whatever floats your boat, go for it.
These are the approximate[/u] costs per synthesis and are subject to change depending on fame and server. But here’s a helpful tool for those with low fame, NPC to the guild, you will receive much more for each item, downside is that the guild will only buy so many of a certain item a day.

Synthesis Support
There are 3 kinds of Synthesis Support; Type A, Type B, and Type C. Each offers a different type of support and understanding what they do will make you a better crafter. If you’re looking for advanced synthesis support for hard and medium difficulty recipes, you will want Type A support which will cost you a small amount of money and lasts the longest. This is the support you will use for 90% of your crafting; however, when you are using an easy synthesis, there are alternative supports. Type B will give you a higher chance for skill ups but at the same time lessen your chance of success, and Type C will increase your chance of success, however, it will not raise your skill very much. Whether Type C increases your chance of success on an easy synthesis more then Type A, I doubt it. However play with it yourself and see what you think, I’m just offering ideas.
Type A = Lih Pituu / Type B = Ronana / Type C = Kyaa Taali
What’s wrong with my synthesis? I’m not getting any skill ups.
This is something you will say to yourself about 5 million times past level 50, and about 10 million times past level 60. No matter if the synthesis is 1 level above you or 9 levels above you, the rate of skill up turns into a crawl so the most important thing is to always stick with the cheapest synthesis, no matter what. Also, something that helped me out, is to take scrap paper and write out, 60.1, 60.2, 60.3 etc. and mark your progress. I would circle the number I was on and then cross it out and circle the next when I skilled up. I can’t tell you how much it helps because crafting becomes a little bit of a head-game past 60.
Leather Craft
It is not a bad idea to level leather crafting as well, many armor syntheses require leather craft to be leveled, including Scorpion Harness (level 60 leathercraft is recommended for the harness). However everything listed above can be created with no other craft skills. In addition, the masks I have listed because they are quite cheap provided you craft your own leather, otherwise a stack of leather will run you as much as 20,000gil instead of creating it for 7,000 to 10,000gil tops.
Guild Points
To receive Guild Points, you must sign up and have a contract with the guild of your desire. You can only have 1 contract open, and if you change contracts to another guild, your guild points return to 0. There is a maximum amount of guild points you can turn in every 25 Earth hours, typically between 2,000 and 5,000 points, so begin turning in items as soon as you can. Again, remember that you can always just buy whatever item they are asking for and turn it in for points; you do not have to craft them.
Conclusion
That just about does it, I would like to add that all the syntheses I have on here I chose for the sole purpose of what is the cheapest per synthesis (before NPC or AH), what is most readily available (and stackable), and also keeping the number of possible syntheses to a minimum (otherwise this would turn into a recipe list not a guide). Sure there are about 100 other syntheses you can chose from, but explore and find out what you like, these are just the things I found that worked for my style of crafting.
Hope you enjoy and feel free to question me on anything.
