Rhyste posted a chart of the properties and effects of the Constelations on the crafting and HQing, but i just recently found out that they also affect BLM skilling up and spell dmg. You see, every constelation has its elemental property: Odin is dark, Alexander is light, shiva - ice, garuda - wind, and so on... Turns out that if you face certain compass directions youll be influenced by them in one of the 2 situations below: - You face the constelation whose element beats the one of the current day -> more skill ups. -You face the constelation that matches the spell youre gonna cast -> more spell dmg. Many ppl have tried this out and said it works(i have yet to try it myself, but it seems logical). It also seems that if you face a constelation and cast a spell whose element is beaten by that one, you have a higher chance to get resisted by the mob; so think about wich way youre gonna face depending on the spells you cast more oftenly. Heres the link to the chart Rhyste posted: s95205715.onlinehome.us/stuff/synth.gif But, since it can be a tad complicated if you dont look at it right, here are the directions: DARK(Odin) -> N LIGHT(Alexander) -> NE ICE(Shiva) -> E WIND(Garuda) -> SE EARTH(Titan) -> S LIGHTNING(Ramuh) -> SW WATER(Leviathan) -> W FIRE(Ifrit) -> NW ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Hope this helps everyone getting good synths and also making spell skilling up easier

I don't know about spell damage... Resistance rate seems more likely if anything at all. I'll have to play around with that tonight.

Well, the more damage done may just be less resistance overall, so in a way its true.
